Partners Achieving Success, CDC, the parent organization for the 105 Voices of History will host the 2011 Leadership Academy-Vocal and International Development (LAVID) in Nassau, Bahamas. The five day academy conference is held in international venues to provide exposure to various cultures and learning experiences from both a leadership perspective and the arts. It allows college students of color to participate in training sessions in an international environment, developing skills and vocal performance attributes that will assist in their preparation to assume positions in the workplace, global communities and/or on renowned stages. The program allows for students to train with peers from the international host site in a unique cultural environment to provide diverse dialogue, while heightening awareness of leadership styles, vocal skills and performance excellence. The Academy leaders will collaborate with the College of the Bahamas faculty and Bahamian professionals to achieve the goals of the program which are:
- to strengthen the student's professional skills and knowledge base through the utilization of the arts
- to increase vocal skills
- critical and strategic thinking
- to enhance social skills through solution development and team building, creating skills to perform with confidence in various capacities in numerous arenas, both nationally and global
- to provide experiences in other cultural lifestyles, to appreciate their similarities and differences.
- to provide the opportunity for United States collegiate students to perform with peers from schools throughout the US as well as different cultures in a foreign country for an internationally diverse audience.
