Leadership Development
Partners Achieving Success, CDC, the parent organization for the 105 Voices of History promotes leadership through conferences and workshops. The goal of this initiative is to provide exposure to various cultures and learning experiences from both a leadership perspective and the arts. It allows college students of color to participate in training sessions in developing skills and vocal performance attributes that will assist in their preparation to assume positions in the workplace, global communities and/or on renowned stages. The initiative allows for students to train with peers from the international host site in a unique cultural environment to provide diverse dialogue, while heightening awareness of leadership styles, vocal skills and performance excellence. Partners Achieving Success strives to achieve the goals of the initiative which are:
- to strengthen the student's professional skills and knowledge base through the utilization of the arts
- to increase vocal skills
- critical and strategic thinking
- to enhance social skills through solution development and team building, creating skills to perform with confidence in various capacities in numerous arenas, both nationally and globally
- to provide experiences in other cultural lifestyles, to appreciate their similarities and differences.
- to provide the opportunity for United States collegiate students to perform with peers from schools throughout the US as well as different cultures in a foreign country for an internationally diverse audience.
The initiative will serve students that are vocal music majors and others that perform in choirs, but may be pursuing other careers, while enjoying the arts. The curriculum will contain two tracks to meet the needs of the students, Leadership and Vocal Performance tracks, which will be shared by all students. The curriculum will include lectures from professionals in the arts and collegiate community of the international host site who will provide cultural content to heighten awareness and gain information to assist student development to become talented artists and global citizens. The initiative will provide a platform to include dialogue exchange among student peers from the college within the community of the international site to share experiences and thinking while broadening exposure and culture knowledge. Upon the conclusion of the conference, students should increase knowledge, skills and actions to support their development track to become successful leaders and performers. Students should be able to communicate the knowledge of a new culture and perform with confidence.
